Comments about Campmor Backpacker Cascade II Poncho - Long: Lots of features: sleeve snaps, tieouts at the corners, drawstring for the hood, adjustable visor, velcro to secure the extra pack coverage length when not wearing over a pack. Great value.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Campmor Backpacker Cascade II Poncho - Long: The green is so nice - deep and foresty.
Pros

Comments about Campmor Backpacker Cascade II Poncho - Long: I've had the Cascade I for 12 years, and finally the tape seams came off. I'm still using it that way though, and it still does the job unless the the downpour is too heavy. I've used this poncho on motorcycles and in the jungles off Southeast Asia during monsoon season. I bought Kenyon repair tape to re-tape the seams, but then I read about the improvements in the Cascade II, and I decided to purchase one. This new poncho is lighter, the neck opening is now zippered, and the seam-taping seems more durable. The material is lighter which saves on weight, but doesn't seem as durable as the Cascade I does. However this will only be determined after putting it to the test, and in any case it might be a worthwhile trade-off as long as it's relatively durable which it does appear to be. To top it all off, there really doesn't seam to be a comparable poncho out there, specially at this price. The green color, which is the only option available at this time, is also nicer in person than on the web page! The only possible real issue I see is the snaps could use some fabric reinforcement since they feel like they might tear off if one is not careful enough while undoing them.

Comments about Campmor Backpacker Cascade II Poncho - Long: I bought this poncho as an experimental and more versatile option to standard rain-suites and bike ponchos, when trail-biking. Much to my surprise, it works perfectly, except in windy conditions. Being oversize, it covers my front bike rack, handlebars and rear cargo rack very well. It also vents well in this mode and my feet stay dry. When in use, I hold it under my hands on the handlebars and the rest takes care of itself. I can stop and then resume riding without disturbing the arrangement. It's very much like a tent on wheels.

Comments about Campmor Backpacker Cascade II Poncho - Long: Great poncho that is versital and tough. Less constricting and hot than rain jacket and pants. Not intended for use as wind gear, but fits nicely over loaded pack. I will continue to use this product and replace it when worn out.

Comments about Campmor Backpacker Cascade II Poncho - Long: I like this a lot. I replaced my rain pants and a rain jacket for this and a set of gaiters. Its nice to have the gaiters anyway to wear when it is muddy or when the grass is tall. This may be a little heavier than the rain jacket but it is definitely lighter then a jacket/pant combo. Also it is nice to lay on in camp and it is nice to be able to cover my gear with it when it rains. I havent had to do this yet but if it is storming something fierce I plan to place this under the rain fly on my tent for a little extra protection. I was also thinking that if it was really cold out I could use it over my sleeping bag as an extra layer. My only complaint is that the snaps and their attachment to the poncho is horrible. I pulled a snap out of the fabric in the first 15 minutes. I plan to replace this with velcro.

Q:
My husband has asked for a sil-ny poncho, XL to go over a backpack (Kelty Tioga external frame). Would you recommend this poncho? Do you have other suggestions?1 answer
A:
Yes, this will work with the Kelty Tioga external frame pack.Q:
I am 6 ft tall, average build...what size poncho would be appropriate for me, the regular or the long. Not sure what the 52X92 and 52X118 dimensions are referencing...top of hood to bottom seam?3 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Dimensions are overall dimensions of the poncho. At 6' I would opt for the long.VERIFIED BUYER

I am 6'1" and the large fits me fine.VERIFIED BUYER
A:
I am 6 foot my self weighting out at 183 pounds. Go for the longer one I did. Remember this poncho is to be used for a backpack. Hower there are snaps on it to lift the back in place while you wareing it without a pack. Go for the long one.Q:
How durable is the material? Will it stand high winds? How do you connect the sides?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
High winds will often blow the poncho over your head exposing you to rain. Better in a high wind conditions to be in a rain suit.VERIFIED BUYER
A:
very durable. Ripstop material. I didn't experience any high winds but...I wouldn't say that is was good for open mountain faces... the sides connect with snaps. hope this helps!
