Pros

Cons

  • Does Not Breathe
  • Hood A Little Small

Best Uses

Comments about Campmor Women's Cascade II Rain Parka:

Worked perfectly in rain and wind on the boat. Hood could be a little larger to make room for pony tail, but the bill on the hood is firm, which is nice as it does not droop blocking vision. It needs some reflector tape. Be careful wearing it at night.

I love this jacket so much that when someone borrowed it and lost it ... I swear I was devastated ... Dramatic I know. I have since gotten a replacement and all us good in the universe. It is the perfect jacket for travel, warm climates during the rainy seasons since it breathes. In the fall with a sweatshirt underneath is great to block the wind. It packs into its own pocket so it small to bring on any trip and takes up no room in your pack. Highly recommend this jacket. Your can't beat it for the price for a everyday jacket.

Comments about Campmor Women's Cascade II Rain Parka:

I do a lot of field work in wet/ humid/ muddy conditions and this jacket was perfect for what I need. It keeps me dry and is easy to clean. So far it stands up to the rough work I do and if it does tear up, the very inexpensive price is worth purchasing again! The only complaint I have would be that the hood is quite small and I can't wear it with a ponytail that is typically necessary while I work.

Comments about Campmor Women's Cascade II Rain Parka:

The green color was very nice, and the jacket fit nice (ordered size S jacket, I'm 5'6", 125lbs, typically ~sz. 4+/-).... EXCEPT for the hood. I'm not sure who approved the mass manufacture of this, but the hood was comically small, like, practically half the size of what I would have expected. I really couldn't effectively put it over my head without the rest of the jacket pulling up off of my shoulders, and the brim of the bill portion of the hood didn't even extend past my hairline. Sorry but it's going back. If you only want a lightweight jacket for backup purposes in the car or while traveling, this is a decent low cost option.... just don't expect to use the hood.

Would the parka provide rain protection while cycling? Would the length be too long?

Actually the length of cycling jackets are longer in the back then the front. That is not the case for this jacket so it may not be long enough.

This is for my daughter, who is 5'3" and 110 lb. She has a 32" bust and in clothes can take either a 2, 4 or 6 depending on the brand. Should I get her an XS or S? She doesn't like tight things and prefers them a bit roomy but I don't want it swimming on her.

                        A:

The Cascade is urethane coated so it will not soak through. The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) that is applied to the shell will wear off. To re apply use products like TX-10 Direct or revivex. The Cascade is not breathable, so condensation will be a problem in higher activity in warm and humid environments.

Take the pocket and pull it inside out.
Now stuff the jacket into the pocket from the inside.
Once stuffed you will see that the zipper slider works inside out-zip pocket close.

How women's specific is the cut? I'm a man, I want the green color, and it looks to be a slimmer cut than the men's, which appeals to me. Is there extra room through the bust that I'll regret? I mean will it be obvious to everyone that I have a women's jacket on?

Since this is a women's jacket the size L for instance will be like a men's M. The taper at the waist is tighter than a man's. The room at the bust line is not something that will be that obvious.
