If you are lucky in life you get what you pay for. I have two big dogs and I bought this jacket as well as another brand about a third of the price. I use this jacket to give my dog some confidence at the beach as he is water shy. It's just generally safer too when playing around water. He does not mind it at all and has started venturing further into the water. You can see where the extra money went on this jacket, with better design, less dangly parts and a fit that does not get in the dogs way when running around on the beach or swimming. The cheaper jacket I purchased works just fine though, so if you are on a budget maybe don't buy this. If you can afford the price it is a jacket that should last a while and keep your dog happy and safe in the water.

The quality of construction was better than the other two brands we ordered. We ordered a Med for our female (65lbs, ~31'' girth) and Large for our male (88lbs, ~35''girth) and this coat fit the best for our deep chested breed. The excess adjustable straps are tucked away neatly by velcro. VERY easy to get on and off and our dogs seem to prefer this one b/c the open design around the chest allows them to feel uninhibited.

I actually have two of these - this one is for my year old Newfoundland dog Size Large - at 105 lbs fits her perfect-Bought this one as the first one I got years back is still in brand new condition - so very well made - my 175 Male Newf wears the XL size. We have a blast - them in theirs and me in mine - we swim out to our boat at the mooring and can just swim around forever - so much fun! and no need to worry if the dog gets tired - they float! We are thorughly enjoying having these vests and the dogs are having a ball!
