- Excellent wilderness tripping canoe paddle
- The fiberglass reinforced blade is designed to glide through the water without flutter or vibration. The blade is strong but has just enough flexibility to reduce strain on the joints.
- The shaft is constructed of five strips of laminated cedar and is spokeshaved by hand into a smooth, oval shape - perpendicular to the blade. The wooden shaft provides wonderful flex which acts as a natural shock absorber during long days of hard paddling.

Due to it being early in the season, he has not had a chance to use it extensively, but for the light paddling we've done so far, he proclaimed it superior to his ultra light carbon paddle. He is looking forward to doing a longer trip in Canada with it and thinks the wider blade will be much more efficient for covering larger distances. The wood laminate is just beautiful.

Rather than return it, I emailed Dan Brown of Whiskey Jack Paddles and asked what kind of glue I should use. The dude responded and I went paddling! The only issue I could find is that you need to adjust your style if you're always paddling on the south end of a north bound boat because it's a little different to navigate with than if you're used to using a straight shaft...in a good way, though! Just make sure you have the 12 degree facing forward or you'll make things more interesting.

Comments about WhiskeyJack Paddles Whiskey Chaser Ultralight Wood Laminate Canoe Paddle: I use this paddle for both river and open water paddling including fishing and touring. I often am on local water as well as extended trips to the BWCA/Quetico parks. I especially like the palm swell grip that provides good leverage and control as well well as the power that the flared blade delivers. I also have a carbon fiber paddle that I use, but this is only a few ounces heavier and somewhat better at overall control.
