Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: Just what I needed.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: I returned this item. I did not think they were of good quality. The pants were too long, and I have long legs. Also, it seemed as if the velcro fasterners around the ankle were not positioned correctly. It had to be pretty tight to just get the velcro components to reach & fasten. Note..I do not have fat ankles. 6', 180lbs.

Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: I tried this set out a couple of times and didn't have any major issues with it. It is a pair of splash pants and work well as such but will not be useful for submersion. I'm hesitant to give a full recommendation due to my limited use of it. The pants are pretty thin so I'm not sure how well they will wear out. They may last week or may last decades. For their lower retail price, they've been good and they do not let water in through the material. They will let water in through the foot openings and waist opening if submerged as expected from splash pants. There is velcro for the feet and two nylon belt/buckles to seal the waist. Haven't had any chafing and they are comfortable to wear. I'm 5'8" and my size medium pants fit well.

Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: I use it whitewater kayaking w/ a dry top. Great way to save 300 dollars (dry top only 300 bucks but dry suits usually 600). Good velcro cuffs that keep the water that accumulates in my leaky boat from getting in my pants.

Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: Was looking for an inexpensive but durable paddling pants for occassional use in spring and fall paddling. I'm 5'7" and weigh about 128lbs so i got a medium which is just about as right as it gets for me. With my height and weight it's usually hard to find a perfect fit with clothing, i usually have to compromise a little in either length or fit at the waist. These pants were a little tight pulling on (waistband) but once around the waist they fit well with enough room for another layer. The adjusting straps were well thought out and rugged enough to last the life of the pants. Velcro at the ankle cuffs are wide and strong but needed to be slighty longer by a couple inches as it is a tight fit especially if you're wearing winter paddling boots. Solution? I bought some heavy indoor/outdoor velcro the kind that wraps around itself and cut off a 7 inch strip(it's about an inch wide) and voila! problem solved! just attach it to the other piece of velcro when you need to "extend" it and it gives a varied and perfect fit:) Happy paddling!

Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: Needed splash pants to complete gear for cool and cold weather paddling on intermediate whitewater. Worn over a "farmer john" wetsuit, these did the trick nicely for about half the price of others. Exactly what I needed and wanted. Purchase at least one size larger than sizing guide to allow for layers underneath you almost certainly will be wearing whenever using these pants.

Comments about Immersion Research IRS Splash Pant: I have used this several times now for winter paddling (whitewater kayaking). This is not a dry pant (with latex seals) as it is designed to be more of a splash pant. Still, I have found it to be very effective repelling water and keeping me dry. The fit is roomy enough to layer underneath and the waist band is cut high in the back (Thank you) so it fits great sitting in my kayak. I wish it had reinforced butt and knees, but it is still an excellent value. Only small issue is that it needs a bit longer velcro at the ankle closure when wrapping aroung wetsuit booties.
