    Comments about Primus ClassicTrail Stove:

I've used this on one Scout trip. It started right up and ran great at temperatures around freezing. Boiled a half liter of very cold water in five minutes. We also cooked sausage and hash browns over it. Used probably most of a JetBoil canister but we probably ran it for about an hour on high. Extremely easy to start and more stable (on a picnic table) than I expected.

Great product. Used on a recent 3 night trip backcountry on Cumberland island. Not a single issue. Wish it were a bit less bulky... BUT the bulk delivers serious stability. Boiled .5 liters faster than the pocket rocket my buddy was using. Very rugged construction and looks to be an excellent backcountry stove for years to come.

        Comments about Primus ClassicTrail Stove:

Have used on several AT hikes, one three night camping trip and have loaned to others for same. Cannot find Primus fuel cans, but it works with the other major suppliers. It's a little on the heavy side. The base and burner also screw apart (needed to fit in the small tote bag supplied with mine) and I worry about dropping it during assembly / disassembly (and thus getting the tiny jet fouled), but have not done so yet.

I generates enought heat for what I've been doing and juducious watching makes fuel last longer than I sometimes exepct. In all, an economical stove.

          Comments about Primus ClassicTrail Stove:

Great stove for backpacking; minimal weight, very compact, and stands up to heavy use. With no wind it boils water in well under 3 minutes. It is a little susceptible to wind, but I haven't used a stove yet that isn't. Of the stoves I've used this one is the best! I would recommend this stove to anybody looking for an economical and extremely functionaly stove. It works so well that I feel no need to drink the Jet-Boil kool-aid.

Great small stove but the valve would not completely
turn off the gas, allowing a very small flame to remain. Remove the gas tank after use.

                Comments about Primus ClassicTrail Stove:

Picked this up in need of last minute light stove for backpacking trip. Lights easily. Adjustable flame. Can burn rather hot when needed. It is a bit heavier than most, but packs in my mess kit. Attaches to most standard butane / propane stove tanks (all that I've tried).

Only have about 4 nights on it and loaned it out for another two. If you need a stove and don't want to spend a fortune, this is worth a look.

That would probably work. Obviously it would take a longer time to heat the cast iron to cooking temperature.

Most stoves have proprietary threads so you can not interchange gas canisters however occasionally you will find ones that are interchangeable. It is really a situation you won't know until you try.

Yes. I believe these stoves use US standard valves like the CV 470 and you it is safe to remove the canister when still partially full.
