This whistle is small enough that you can carry it in your pocket at all times and not even notice it's there. It's very loud, so it's great for signaling over wind and machinery, which is why I always carry it with me when I'm working too.

Incredibly loud - hurt my ears (blew it outside, not in an enclosed space).
Easily the loudest BY FAR.
Loud enough to get attention even if blown lightly - important for kids
(If you just breath lightly through this whistle it is as loud as some others)
Best bet to be heard over boat motors, shouting, waves, wind etc.
Less compact than other designs but easily the winner for marine activities or diving (works under water).
Downside is it is bulkier, wouldn't necessarily want to carry for non-marine use

Classic pea whistle. Like what any coach would use.
Very loud, but I suppose it doesn't work well in the water.
Needs harder blow to get good strong sound.
