Comments about Steripen Journey Ultraviolet Water Purifier: Used it on a Camelback bottle with the Steri filter. Filter makes tight seal with inner lip of bottle and makes it easy to flip the bottle over so you can best seritlize the water. Great Product!

No difference is how the water is purified through UV light. However the Journey has a LCD timer verses no timer on the traveler. The traveler use either lithium or nickle metal hydridAA batteries and the Journey uses Cr123 lithium coin cell batteries. The bulb on the traveler will last 3000 treatments while the Journy's bulb will last an estimated 8000 treatments.Answered on 7/7/2011 by Steve from Campmor

I have seen other reviews saying that this product functions great except in higher elevation.

There are 2 issues here.
1. Higher elevations have a lot of glacial run off. Run off can be highly silted in which a water purifier that requires light to kill pathogens will not work because pathogens will not be in the direct UV light.
2. The other issue with higher elevation use was that the early units switched on in the presence of minerals in the water. Since higher elevation water has little mineral content the early units would not turn on. The current units on the market has been upgraded to turn on in the presence of water not water and minerals so they will always turn on. So yes this problem has been addressed and this unit will work at higher elevation. The water being treated needs to be clear though.Answered on 5/26/2011 by Steve from Campmor
