Q:
Would this item be a good option as an all around pack? (I.e. use for college books and laptop as well as used for weekend hikes and backcountry ski). Also what are the major differences between the alpine 30 and freeride pro? (Namely can the both be used as a general pack, does the freeride have separate compartments for pens and other school stuff)1 answer
A:
The Trans Alpine 30 does have a laptop sleeve, though it is a narrower pack so a larger laptop may not fit. You can use this for backcountry skiing. the side straps can be used to hold skies. The Trans Alpine would not be able to accommodate a snow board like the free ride would. However the Freerider does not have a bottom access like the Trans Alpine. The Trans Alpine has a flat steel frame to the Delrin frame of the Freerider. The freerider has back top access. Besides these differences the 2 packs are the same volume and share many other features.Q:
I'm looking to possibly use this pack for day hikes. Would it fit a 20-21 inch torso and a 38+ waist?1 answer
A:
The Deuter Trans Alpine 30 Daypack would work with a 38 waist and a 20-21" torso. The waist belt may fall a little above the top of the hip bone.| Size | 21" x 13.5" x 9.5" |
