Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: No puming involved! Just used this filter for Five weeks in Latin America and saved alot of money on bottled water. Can't say how it would perform in a silty environment but works great when starting with clear water. Definately going to get extra filter cartridge and try it in the desert this spring.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: If you use platypus water bags then this is the answer. Easy to use and fast. No more pumping. Easy to clean.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: This filter is great! I don't like using pumps so this is an easier way, just fill the dirty bag with water, and position bags for gravity to do the work! It takes only a few minutes to filter. The only thing I wish were different is the dirty bag is hard to zip closed, which is fine if you're not moving with it, but it should have the blue zip press like the Platypus bladder system has, makes it easy, and you don't hurt your thumbs trying to push it closed.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: This is an easy to use and fast filtration method. I coupled it with a platypus water bag so that I had two 4 liter bags of water available on a recent fly in camping trip.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: I used this on a recent solo backpack on the Finger Lakes Trail in New York. While perhaps overkill for 1 person, it is as light or lighter than a pump, and much faster. It is not as light as Aquamira, but it gives you water NOW. Fill it, hang it, and forget it. 4 liters of clean water in 2-3 minutes while you sit back and watch gravity in action. Face it, pumping is work: squatting creekside or hauling pans of water to a more comfortable spot to pump. The Clean reservoir doubles nicely as a 4 liter canteen, and I needed to carry that plus my normal backpack reservoir on this trip. Would be especially easy for larger groups. Back flushing, which is recommended, is easy and works. I suppose there is potential for contamination of the clean hose end, but normal "camp hygiene" applied to this should be OK. A dipping cup is helpful to fill the dirty reservoir in very shallow creeks or springs. It would be nice if the clean reservoir cap had a leash. Ditto the filter plug.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: This product is great for doing multiple task. First thing at camp is to fill the bag, hook it up, and while filtering I set up camp.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: used on a 2 week hike in the sierras with 4 people, and it performed beautifully. you need to backwash regularly after the first few days, but once you figure it out it takes about 1 extra minute. nothing to it. it would be good to bring a spare filter since they don't weigh much, but we didn't need one.

Comments about Platypus GravityWorks Filter: I brought this on a 3 week trip to Great Smoky and Shanandoah NP's, for 2 people. We did both backcountry and car camping. It was great for both.
