The Osprey Daylite Daypack is not water proof. You can not submerge the pack without items inside the pack getting wet. As for torrential rains the items in the pack will probably get wet as well. If you are referring to light rain it is a very water resistant pack since it is top loading. The seams are not taped and the zippers will leak water.Answered on 8/30/2012 by Steve from Campmor
