Comments about Osprey Waypoint 85 Travel Pack:

I bought this back for international relief work in third world countries. I am usually not hiking in but the places do not benefit from wheels. I would not think twice to take this pack on a multi day hike. Pack has great storage options and is easy to live out of for a week plus. I use the day pack as my carry on and has more usable storage than my larger north face daypack. Once I arrive in less than two minutes I can have the back straps out and the daypack attached for easy travel through customs and on to my destination. Pack is also easy to carry by top or side handles. When back straps are stored there is nothing to get caught or tangled when checked. I did remove the bed mat straps.

Overall very good pack. Look forward to many years of use and confidence that this pack can do anything I need.

perfect travel/hiking pack, i used on 3 day hike, plenty of room, didnt even need the daypack. There's no water bladder pocket, but a nice long side pocket that works well. I take the daypack w/ me a lot, its super snug and comfortable, and gets bigger as you need it. I wish i had this bag a long time ago. 2010 model is a little better than last years. Easy access to all your stuff, zippers can lock together. I'm taking it where ever i go.

I just received my Osprey Waypoint 85 Travel Pack for women. I'm confused about the back panel. I see how it zips to cover the straps, but when I want to wear the straps and carry the bag, what do I do with the unzipped back panel?

              A:

Once you unzip the back panel; look under the hip belt you will find a space with Velcro-stow the back panel in this pouch. Once you want to travel on mass transit, you can remove the back panel from it's hiding spot and zip the panel in.

what are the dimensions without the day-pack attached. Without the day-pack attached will this meet Airline carry-on size requirements.
Asked on 4/29/2012 by Jack from Georgetown, TX

            1 answer

            • Staff Reviewer

              A:

Dimensions are: 30"x18"x 18" with the day pack on. The air carrier dimension for this pack is 66 so it would exceed carry on requirements for most airlines. Without the day pack the dimension is 30" x 18" x 11" = 59" also too large for carry on for most air lines. The day pack is carry on but the pack would need to be checked through.

The removeable day pack has dimensions of 19" x 11.5" x 7"). If your laptop is smaller than that then it should fit.

              A:

Have a friend measure your back. Stand with your back to them and your hands on your hips like you are scolding someone. Your thumbs will point to a stop on your lower spine. Start from this point and measure up to the C-7 vertebrae, which is the one that sticks out of the back of your neck when you touch your chin to your chest. The measurement between these 2 points is your torso length.
