My son is crossing over from Cub to Boy Scouts next month and I bought him this pack for Christmas. It won't see the trail till spring, but he is very happy with it so far and so am I. Even Uncle Ron, an avid backpacker, approved! It's also specifically recommended by BSA. I don't think you can go wrong with this one for his age group (10-12). Happy trails!

All in all a great little backpack. I bought this because my son (a boy scout) needed a larger pack for overnight camping trips - his other pack is a smaller osprey. The pack has a lot of nice features, is very adjustable and is reasonably priced. I don't think you can get a better pack than this one for a child.

Bought two - one for our 11 year old son and one for our 9 year old daughter- these are their first backpacks, but as it is winter we won't be using until spring. Appears to be everything we were looking for except maybe a little smaller than I had anticipated. Maybe that is a good thing so we won't overload them.

I bought this pack for my son to have for Boy Scout campouts and hiking. The great thing about this pack is adjustability which in turns give us the flexibility for my son's growth. It would be great if the pack was 1 and halp pounds lighter but all in all, the pack is just right.

One of the features listed for the Osprey Ace 48 is "zippered sleeping bag access". What does mean exactly? Someone previously asked about whether or there is a separate sleeping bag compartment and the answer was "No".

The Osprey Ace 48 Internal Frame Backpack has a bottom zipper that would allow a person to access a sleeping bag at the bottom of the pack bag. The Osprey Ace 48 Internal Frame Backpack does not have a separate sleeping bag compartment with a divider.

The Osprey Ace 48 is considered more of a youth pack, therefore the waistbelt will be too small.

Hi! Quick question, I am a 5' tall Boy Scout. Is these pack a good size? Also I've that Osprey is a good brand is that true? And is this pack big enough enough for a 5 day trip?
                          Thanks!

                            - At 3 Lb 2 oz this pack is quite light. As for the fit you will need to make sure your torso length is within this range: Torso Length 14-20 in. To measure your torso: Have a friend measure your back. Stand with your back to them and your hands on your hips like you are scolding someone. Your thumbs will point to a stop on your lower spine. Start from this point and measure up to the C-7 vertebrae, which is the one that sticks out of the back of your neck when you touch your chin to your chest. The measurement between these 2 points is your torso length. use this

I'm a woman who is only 4"11. My husband and I will be hiking through Spain this summer for 2 weeks. I am not very strong or good at carrying things. Would this be too heavy of a pack? or too tall of a pack?

Can I fit a 33" x 75" rectangular sleeping bag in this pack and still have room for other gear.

Osprey Ace 48 Internal Frame Backpack- Most rectangular sleeping bags are designed as camp bags. Not made to be compressed to size small enought to go into a backpack . The exception to this , may be the warmer, rectangular bags ( around 40 degrees) .. If you can get your bag dowm to around 8" x 15 ( you may need a compression bag) the bag may not be suitable for this smaller pack
