I recently used the windscreen on a backpacking trip in Colorado. I cannot compare performance without the windscreen because I always used it with the stove. With the windscreen boil times seemed to be less than what was listed and it did fair at diverting wind.

Steel rather than titanium makes it heavier than it needs to be. It helps in windy conditions, but I find a foil shield is also needed above it to extend the screen high enough around the pot to keep the flame centered when the wind blows.
