It is imperative in order to fit an internal frame pack correctly that you get an accurate measure of your torso length.
Knowing how to fit a backpack correctly starts with knowing the length of your torso. You can't actually measure your own torso, though (at least not very accurately), so you'll have to invite a friend over first.
Then, with your friend behind you:
1.Stand up straight but relaxed, with your feet shoulder-width apart.
2.Drop your chin down to your chest until the round bone at the base of your neck sticks out. This is your C7 vertebra.
If you can't find this vertebra with your head bent forward, try bending your head backwards. You should be able to find the bone right in the crease of your neck.
3.Put your hands on your hips. Your fingers should be facing forwards and your thumbs level along your back, pointing towards your spine.
4.Press into your back with your thumbs until you feel the tops of your hip bones. This is your hip shelf.
5.With a flexible measuring tape (the kind used for tailoring not DIY!), start measuring from your C7 vertebra.
6.Press the tape measure down along your spine so that it follows the contours of your back all the way to the top of your hip shelf, at the centre point between your thumbs.
