Comments about GCI Outdoor The Sitbacker Chair:

I do a lot of paddling but have a terrible back, therefore I've gone through generations of camp chairs and don't expect them to last long. Used this one on a two week canoe trip and though I managed to destroy it by the end, it made the trip possible. The aluminum frame held up pretty well, but I managed to wreck one of the hinges and tore the seat in half through heavy use (in the stern of the canoe). Managed to repair it with duct tape and some webbing. Some might find this seat too stiff and rigid but wearing a PFD it was fine. After destroying this one it now has a place of honor on my garage wall with other gear that sacrificed itself for my comfort, and I will buy another one for my next trip (and reinforce it first).

Comments about GCI Outdoor The Sitbacker Chair:

Ive tried almost every canoe chair on the market from crazy creek,to the plastic coleman ones that clip onto your seat. I have used seat cushions, life vests, closed cell foam cut to dimension. I have used many alternative ideas as well from my therm-a-rest chair kit, large backpacks behind my seat, lounge chairs put in over the seat.
This is by far the best I have tried as far as back support, adjustability, height of the 2in cushion (to keep center of gravity as low as possible). You can sit straight up..lounge back in it, and even adjust it slightly forward to sit perfectly straignt up.
I've only usedit a few times but it is my newest favorite canoeing accessory. I havent used it for other activities yet but I'm gonna take it along to festival this weekend and sit on the ground with it.
I think its a little too heavy and bulky for backpacking, but I may loan it to my friend who practices "slow and heavy" backpacking techniques to give it a try.
If I had to identify one shortfall, specifically for those of us who have a short torso and skinny butt...it doesn't reach all the way down my back and I got a little irritation after two days of floating the eleven point river here in Missouri.
this is a very small issue but I don't wanna be all gushy about it.
I would recommend to anyone who canoes mild to moderate (Class I and moderate Class II) rivers, or lakes as a great product.

The GCI Outdoor Sitbacker Chair will attach to the seat of a Coleman scanoe. It is secured with straps that wrap underneath the canoe seat and attach with velcro.
