I use this hat while walking. The dark under brim helps with glare, plus the venting around the top helps keep you cool. Great hat and price.

The hat arrived with black streaks on the crown that I can't get off. The crown will not stand up even after trying to block it. I am going to return it for credit. Very disappointed.

Comments about Dr. Shade Outback Hat:

I have purchased two of these hats prior to this one. One, I wore out in the woods and got it dirty. I didn't read the label and washed it which made it change the way it fit and lose its brim stiffness. So I bought another one. I was in the Virgin Islands sailing on a very windy day and didn't use the chin strap. A gust of wind blew the hat off my head and into the water. I had my wife keep an eye on it and I swung buy it about five times never getting close enough to snag it. Finally, I lost sight of it. I didn't put my name in the second hat, so its gone forever.
This third hat is made of a lighter weight material. I liked the stiffness of the first two. I don't like the light weight material as much. I'm thinking about putting wax on it to stiffen it up so its not so floppy.

For a hat size 7 order the M. Quick formula to determine head circumference from hat size:
                        (hat size) x 3 = head circumference.

You can dampen the hat so that it is supple enough. Get a Styrofoam head form and put the hat on it so it will regain it's form
