Comments about Outdoor Research Sternum Strap Kit: I hae a small Osprey day pack that I use for work as a volunteer park ranger. Without a sternum strap, it kept slipping. This product solved that problem and also helps the pack feel more stable and comfortable. I figured out how to put the straps on, but it would help to have directions.

Comments about Outdoor Research Sternum Strap Kit: I use the sternum strap on all but the most casual of light packs. If pack straps lack bar tacked loops, I sew little loops to straps to thread sternum strap through so it doesn't slide to the bottom of shoulder straps when not in use. Moves weight of pack from in from outer aspect of shoulders closer to wearer's center of gravity & greatly stabilizes load.

The strap slides if you don't have something to keep it from moving down your shoulder straps. I prefer to have shoulder straps with the sternum strap built in But this will work if you can not get that like on day packs or hydration packs.

Comments about Outdoor Research Sternum Strap Kit: love mine i use it on my day pack (north face) which i use for everything and also on my hunting pack but on the pack i use for hunting when i take it off the straps slip down and i have to readjust them before i put it back on (cheapo pack flimsy straps)

Comments about Outdoor Research Sternum Strap Kit: I used this buckle set for backpacks, and I recommend it for any pack, any size, to keep the straps together across your chest -- very simple, inexpensive idea for comfort and efficiency in carrying a backpack. I also use this on my backpack lawn blower and it is awesome: heavy and bulky packs need this strap to keep the load in place. Great item, well constructed and sturdy.
