Comments about eton Sweetwater Replacement Filter Cartridge: I bought my Sweetwater filter in 2000 when they were an independant company. I was happy to find out that MSR still makes these replacement filters. The filter they show on line is white with a red ring like my original filter. The filter you receive from Campmor is black but it is the same filter. My new filter fits and performs perfectly in my old Sweetwater filter. In the past I have used this filter on Boy Scout backpacking trips and it easily and quickly filtered water for a crew of 10 on an 11 day backpacking trip where all water had to be purified before use. Much quicker and easier thasn using Iodine tablets.

Durable, reliable. We have learned to check for flow after long term storage of the cartridge in the freezer, before hitting the trail! Sometimes requires bleaching out as per the manuf. instructions on line.

Initially when you run water through the filter you will get some carbon particles. Just run some water through and the particles will dissipate. The filter will then be ready for use.Answered on 1/17/2013 by Steve from Campmor
