  The Garmin Dakota 10 has a battery life up to 20 hours. This comes with a built in basemap and other than that map data can up uploaded (detailed topo, lake or road maps), as well as linked features like Garmin connect can be utilized for sharing data, but as far as I can determine, a basic mapping handheld like the Dakota series does not need to be updated like a Nuvi, Marine or Avionics unit.
