Cons Best Uses Comments about Garmin Oregon 550t: Worked nicely. Quickly got sats after initial boot. Had good battery life - performed better than expected. Used two sets of batteries over two full days (10 hrs) of hiking PLUS intermitten use over 4 days of canoeing. Only negative is that when you use the supplied lanyard, the unit is oriented backwards!? Need to take it off lanyard to use it - simply mindnumbing that it is configured like that.

Since this works of Geo syncratic orbit the GPS will work in Brazil. However you will need to contact Garmin about the software needed for Brazil
