Comments about Katadyn MyBottle Purifier: Used this for the first time recently on a backpacking trip to a backcountry lake. Used water right out of the lake. No funny taste. Easy to use. You only get a little water by squeezing so it's not like drinking out of a big mouth bottle, and it gets more difficult as the water gets low in the bottle, but all things considered this is a great, simple filter/purifier for backpacking.

Comments about Katadyn MyBottle Purifier: Not as good as the expensive mini-pumps but, it's lighter (when empty), it's simpler, and less expensive. If everyone in your camping/hiking group carries one, there's no need to bring the $300 pumps.

Comments about Katadyn MyBottle Purifier: i got it ready to use, but i never actually used it. you hold it upright and squeeze it to get water out. it would be fine to provide immediate drinking water, but pretty slow to make water for cooking or to put in water carrier bottles. you can use the bottle as-is to carry drinking water. half the price of large quantity filters, but you only get a couple of cups of water from each fill.

I think you may be referring to a desalination unit. This is not an accessory the MY Bottle. A desalination unit is a very expensive processor of sea water. The MYbottle is strictly for fresh water.Answered on 6/27/2012 by Steve from Campmor
