Comments about Princeton Tec Apex LED Headlamp:

On one camping trip, I set up a canopy and pointed it upward and it brighten the entire area. It overpowered the two lanterns that I used so I just turned the lanterns off. Some people say it is bulky, but I didn't think it was that heavy. What can you expect with 4 AA batteries. Just remember to either bring extra batteries or recharge them.

It is a great light, for the damp wet weather, the adjustment on the straps allows for it to fit a bicycle helmet depending on the type and shape you are using. The high beam is very bright. Used this light in a down pouring rain and it kept burning bright. Top of the line quality.

I live in the woods as a river guide and use this headlamp on a daily basis. I can't even describe how bright and luminating this thing is...My friends and co-workers are all jealous when I bust this bad boy out next to their headlamps..It puts them to shame. I have not yet had a chance to test it's waterproof ability, hopefully won't have to unless I'm caving somewhere, but the battery housing definitely seems solid and well sealed.

how do I change the batteries? where and how do I open the battery compartment? when connected to my computer what does that do? great light when I get it powered up. Thank you.
Asked on 8/21/2013 by coach from Kansas city,MO

          1 answer

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

The compartment has a knob on the back of the batter compartment and you would loosen this compartment to change the batteries. The Apex is not a programmable headlamp that would use your computer. I think you may be confusing this headlamp with a Petzl Nao Headlamp which uses a USB cable and has software to interface with the headlamp and the computer.
