Comments about Katadyn Hiker MicroFilter: Only method that retrived water from low flowing sources. The AT maps show water sources nearly everywhere...not so since the drought and springs that "were" there might only be a trickle. Could not get a "bottle" full in many locations. Worked great!
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Katadyn Hiker MicroFilter: we used for a trip in Mexico and Belize to filter tap water that is otherwise not drinkable. It did a nice job and kept us from being sick the whole trip.

Comments about Katadyn Hiker MicroFilter: I have used this backpacking for 6 or 7 years now and it has been very durable and has given me no problems. I have used many of the other filters and do not find them as efficient and user friendly. It only weighs 11 oz!

Comments about Katadyn Hiker MicroFilter: Purchased this filter unit almost ten years ago. I have gone through several filters (they are expensive, but you get what you pay for) and the body has outlasted my every expectation. I plan to keep using this unit as long as I can find filters- it's easy to use, effective, and lightweight.

Q:
I have an older PUR filter and I recently changed the filter element and O-rings, but it still does not suck or pump water through the unit. I can't see any defect or problem, as the unit is ultra simple. The only thing I can think of is replacing the O-ring gaskets again. Any suggestions?2 answers
