I have been using the bottle carrier while training for a marathon. I have used other brands and Nathan have really did a nice job. Your hand fits nicely into the carrier and the design is grip free; it's stuck to your hand without any effort. The pocket is large enough for a smart phone, keys, and electrolyte pills. There is a seal around the zipper of the pocket to keep water from leaking through. I do not like the Nathan bottle, the nipple leaks if you forget to close it and the top is hard to unscrew, especially when your hands are sweaty from running. I prefer a bottle design like Camelbak QuickDraw. I have not tried using a camelbak bottle with this carrier.

A great handheld for distance running. I use mine for doing ultra marathons and it works great. The original bottle cap has some issues in my opinion, but you can easily replace it with a similar sized water bottle. Zip pouch has enough space for food or maps. Outside pocket is just big enough for a gel.
