I've used this a few times out and about on weekend outings. If you can sleep on your back, this pillow will do well for you...especially opened up and fluffed out. But if you side-sleep only...fuggeddaboutit. Its not thick enough and although the suggestion by Cascade Designs is to stuff the backside with something like a shirt might work for some...its not good for side sleeping regardless. Stays warm, packs down well, might want to stuff it in a MACS sack to keep dry and smallest possible size

Ok pillow, and is better than nothing. I'm a large person, but even the large doesn't enough padding. Only problem so far is I had to dry it forever until it was dry and fluffy (the nature of Down).

I purchased the small down pillow. The size is OK but the 2.6 oz of down fill does not provide much loft.

The cover has a draw string, allowing you to attach the pillow to another gear bag. I'll probably slip it over my clothing/towel bag in order to get more cushioning for my head.

For more loft, I suggest buying the medium or large size.

With the caveats above, I would recommend this product.

Blow up air pillows just do not rate unless they are half inflated. Use with a rolled up jacket and you are in business. Bought this for backpacking and wanted comfort. Marvin the Minimalist would probably prefer two ears of prickley pear cactus! Stuff size is just under a small 8" diameter ball. Like cats, always room for one more! Bought "manly" blue - Arrrgh!

I haven't used this yet, but I bought it for an upcoming trip overseas. I ordered all three sizes before I settled on the large. It mushes down enough to fit in my carry on bag easily, but is big enough to be comfortable. I really like that it's in its own stuff sack - pull the cord tight and it's packed, let it all the way out for a large (and probably slightly too thin) pillow, or tighten it partway for a smaller, but thicker, down pillow. I travel for work alot - always with my down bed pillow. I think this will replace that item in my suitcase from now on.
