Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Trail Lite Self Inflating Sleeping Pad:

For years I put off buying a self-inflating sleeping pad. I decided to buy myself one as a birthday present this year. I had a chance to use it on a Scout campout recently, and it was one of the best nights sleep I've ever had camping!

Needless to say, this will come with me on every campout from here on out! The stuff sack is large and makes stowing the mat so easy. It is a bit bulky to throw inside your pack, but it easily straps on the top of my pack, and so light I didn't really notice the extra weight.

Inflate/deflate, packing all were easy. It did not provide as much comfort as I had hoped for. It would probably work fine for someone smaller than myself (6'1" 215).

l love this sleep pad! Although it's a little big when packed, it's not so big and heavy that you can't backpack. For the money, there's no better pad. Don't substitute, get a Thermarest!

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Trail Lite Self Inflating Sleeping Pad:

I just purchased this a month ago and used it on 2 backpacking trips. Both times it was used on a tent platform so I can not rate how well it covers rocks/bumps...felt pretty nice over wood though. Woke up without being sore.

This does come with a thin (lightweight) stuff sack- to get it in the sack you have to fold the pad in half then roll it up. (Actually, you roll the pad to get the air out first, close the nozzle, then unroll, fold in half, re-roll) The pad is a loose fit in the sack.

Inflates easy enough with about a dozen extra breaths. Definitely open the pad up and let it inflate once fully, even overnight, before bringing it out camping.

Not the lightest pad in the world but worth the weight for casual backpackers.

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Trail Lite Self Inflating Sleeping Pad:

I had a hard time choosing an air matress but after some research I learned that thermarest was the brand to buy. I was going back and forth between this model and another one that was only an inch thick compared to 1.5 inches thick on this model. This is one area i have a hard time compromising on, COMFORT! If I dont get a good night's rest after hiking all day the next day will be miserable! So far it is doing a great job, the package says it weighs 1-lb 12oz and it packs down pretty small. Inflating isnt that hard but prepare to blow a bit of air into the matress to speed up the process. Im probably going to pair this matress with the z-lite for winter-extra comfort.

Yes, this will stay inflated. It is meant to provide insulation in colder temperatures. It is always helpful to blow a few breaths of air into the valve to make the pad as firm as possible.
