  • Q:

I purchased one of these bags and used it for the first time this past weekend. I do not have a roof rack and mounted it as instructed with the long straps running through the door openings. We ran into a heavy downpour, and a fair amount of water came into the car along the straps, getting everyone in the car quite wet. Unless I can think of a way to stop this from happening again, I will need to return the item to Campmor. Can you suggest a solution?

Instead of going through the windows, I open all the doors and install the pouch onto my Yaris roof. Tighten it down and close the doors over the strap. That way the windows can close completely. Additionally the weather stripping in the door should do a much better job keeping rain water out.

Kanga roof pouches are made of waterproof material, however the zipper would leak water at highway speeds.

  • Q:

How do you attach the cargo bag securely to the car roof WITHOUT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE RUBBER WEATHER STRIPPING INSIDE THE DOORS?

      A:

The straps go over the rubber weather striping. This does not damage the weather striping as long as you do not permanently strap the roofpouch onto the roof top.

  • Q:

    1. How, exactly, does the bag connect to the car roof without running the risk of rain entering the car through cracked-open windows?
    2. Is the bag compatible with all cars?

      1. Actually it is better not to run the straps that secure the roofpouch to the roof through windows. This would prevent the door from opening. Better is to secure the straps through the door opening and close the door on the secured strap. This will allow the door to be used and the windows closed to prevent rain from entering the car.
      2. Kanga 14 is good for cars with longer roof lines the 11 for compacts with shorter roof lines.
