  A:
  You pull this over the top. It does not have a bottom. You insert the delrin rod and then you put the bottom of the bivy over the foot and secure the head part over the top.

what sort of waterproof factor does this bivy have. Is it all basically just mesh material to act as a screen or is there still some solid material?

Does this bivy have an open bottom? the description about the elastic cord bottom makes it sound like it just covers the top of your sleeping bag like a shower cap.

  You are entirely correct about this shower cap... I bought this item thinking that this was a full sack, and you entered through a zipper, but it seems as if Steve and Bob from Campmor want to mislead you on that. Yes, it tightens around your sleeping bag, but if you rollover, the seal on the ground is broken and bugs come in. Also length is an issue, especially if you are tall like me. Mike is right... listen to him, not Steve and Bob

  The bottom of the bag is not open it is ripstop polyester and no see um netting. The elastic cord will tighten the bivy around the sleeping bag bottom
