Comments about Coldpruf Platinum Midweight Underwear Crew Shirt - Men's: The dual layer wool/ poly blend is an excellent idea, and it will keep you warm. However, the neck and sleeve ends have the wool rolled inside where it will rub against your skin. Also, what ever thread was used on the collar and sleeve ends is extremely itchy and scratchy. Maybe I'm just more sensitive to itchy stuff on my skin, but was disappointed. Maybe they should have lined the collar and sleeve ends with the poly material instead.

Both synthetic polyester or polypropylene long under wear are hydrophobic; that is they do not hold onto moisture, which allows them to dry quickly. Wool is a natural fiber like cotton. It differs from cotton in a very important way though. Unlike cotton which cools you when it becomes moist wool will provide warmth even when wet. Wools come in different qualities the lower quality wools are a shorter fiber which tend to be itchy. The higher quality wools like Merino wool are a longer fiber and make for a soft hand.Answered on 2/12/2013 by Steve from Campmor
