Comments about Eureka Kid's Grasshopper 30 Degree Sleeping Bag:

This is a fine sleeping bag, but you shouldn't use it for night temperatures much below 40 degrees (and that only in a good tent with a pad to bring the bag up off the ground, and wearing wicking long underwear to sleep in). My son used it for spring camping and he was warm most of the night (only waking to complain of being cold as the temps dipped around 34 F.)

my kids love this sleeping bag. it's well padded - so they stay warm and comfortable. b/c of the padding, though, it's a bit bulky - which is something to consider if your backpacking. otherwise it's a great deal.

Comments about Eureka Kid's Grasshopper 30 Degree Sleeping Bag:

My dad bought this for my daughter 2 years ago. Even though it's green and she's usually a "pink" girl, she loved it. Accidentally left it out of the car on the way home, so this year I tracked it down again, found it on Campmor, and bought her another one. She loves this thing, and says it keeps her toasty warm, even up in the mountains with the fly off the tent so we can watch the stars. Great kids' sleeping bag, and light enough for my skinny 10-year old girl to pack 7 miles up the mountain (and back down). Highly recommended.

Comments about Eureka Kid's Grasshopper 30 Degree Sleeping Bag:

What I love about this bag is that it manages to be serious gear (i.e., truly warm enough for camping) while still being kid-friendly (i.e., fun colors, great size). Some kids' bags are really just for indoor sleepovers, or are "pretend" grown-up sleeping bags -- this one's the real deal. The only thing I don't like is the drawstring, which strikes me as a choking hazard for the youngest kids, but the drawstring can be easily removed or modified if you're worried. Overall, I love this bag and have bought one for each of my kids.

Used this a couple of times now with my 4/5 year-old. She loves it, and there is plenty of space for her and she keeps warm with a pad underneath. The zipper is reinforced and the whole construction seems appropriately durable for use by children. It is also very light and packs down pretty well, although not small enough for backpacking necessarily.

The customer service w/Campmor was very good. One of the two sleeping bags we ordered had some flaws in the stitching and they immediately exchanged it. We haven't been able to use the sleeping bags outdoors yet, but the kids love them and they seem like they will last a long time.

This sleeping bag will fit someone up to 4'6". If he is taller then we would recommend some regular length adult sleeping bags. You can also check out the Kelty Extender, which will fit a child up to 5'5".

                      Machine Washing & Drying:

We suggest washing the bag in a front loading (non-agitator), heavy duty, commercial washer. Use a mild detergent. We suggest using ½ to ¼ as much detergent as instructed on the container, depending on how soiled the bag is. Do not use bleach. Use cool or cold water setting, delicate or gentle cycle. For best results, run the bag through one or two extra rinse cycles without detergent. Remove from washer carefully in a bundle. Dry in a commercial dryer at low heat or AIR setting (must be less than 125ºF). Excessive heat will damage fabric and insulation. Remove promptly and lay flat until cool. The bag may also be line dried after being sufficiently spin dried to remove most of the water.
