I just finished hiking in the Himalayas in February, and the bag kept me warm even in conditions where my water bottle would be frozen solid by morning. The zipper does require a bit of a patience, but it's no big deal. The bag is still a bit bulky, even when in the scrunch sack, but it is so warm that I didn't care about the extra space that it took up. The down conducts heat best when you sleep with the fewest layers on. My warmest nights were when I slept in my long underwear inside the bag.
