Comments about Kelty Basecamp Pad: We bought two of these. First purchase was for my husband. We have a Labrador that took it over. She is 12 yrs old with aching bones. She snuck & inched her way on the pad and then flat out refused to get off. So, we bought her one too!!!
Pros

Comments about Kelty Basecamp Pad: Our gear needs to be very comfort driven. I got two of these for my daughter and a friend. My wife said these are so comfortable that we should have given the girls our double thick blow up matress and take these for ourselves. Make sure you really let them inflate all the way. I left the valve open for 10-15 min. then reopened the valves before bed to let in any extra air. These are the nicest camp rolls I've ever used. Well worth the money for car camping. They are a bit heavy and bulky for backpacking but you should be able to figure that out by the name. It rained hard the first night we used them and the tent leaked. These pads kept the girls out of the puddles and they still slept in because just the edges of their bags got wet. Would buy again for sure.

Comments about Kelty Basecamp Pad: This is an excellent self-inflating pad. It has built in straps, and comes with a carry bag, things that the competitors do NOT have. Has just the right amount of loft so I don't feel the ground under me. Also its very easy to inflate/deflate.

Comments about Kelty Basecamp Pad: Product works well. I was able to roll it into a tighter roll than was anticipated.

Q:
How do I deflate and roll the pad back-up? After self inflating, I tried to open (unscrew both valves) the valves, but they will not let the air out easily.1 answer
A:
You may have a faulty valve. The air should be easy to compress out of the mattress if the valve is in the open position. Contact our customer service department at 800-525-4784 for warranty information.Q:
Could you please tell me where this item is made? Thank you1 answer
A:
The Kelty Basecamp Pad is made in China.Q:
I have heard that some self-inflating matresses don't inflate at sub-zero temperatures. What's the lowest temperature at which this pad will self-inflate? (In Minnesota we camp at 25 below, so I need the high R-value!)1 answer
A:
This pad will self inflate down to about 32 degrees. Not good for sub zero temps.Q:
what does the R value mean? which is better higher or lower?1 answer
A:
Kelty Basecamp Pad - R value is a measure of thermal resistance . The higher the R-value the better the insulation , and the warmer you'll be with the mattress .
