Used extensively in medical and industrial applications, digital pressure mapping technology analyzes a range of body types in varying sleeping positions. Common areas of high and low pressure were identified and mapped, to create a more even and comfortable sleep surface. The Therm-a-Rest® Luxury Map™ Mattress has varying densities of die-cut perforations - more to soften high pressure areas and fewer in low-pressure areas, to maintain support where it's needed most.
The new Luxury Map mattress takes the self-inflating mattress concept to a higher level of luxury with advanced, pressure mapping technology and innovative die-cut foams. The result is a more even and supportive sleep surface, less tossing and turning with fewer pressure points, and the priceless experience of a more restful night outdoors.
- Softer: Die-cutting selectively decreases foam density in high-pressure areas.

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Luxury Map Large: First time I used this for a floor mattress since there were not enough beds available. I follwed the directions for first time use, blew in 12 average puffs of air, and placed a 1 inch pad under it (b/c I sleep on my side) and slept well.

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Luxury Map Large: Bought and used it for a western wildfire assignment, which is essentially a base camp application. Followed the instructions and it worked just like it was supposed to work. Too bulky for back-packing in somewhere, but light weight is nice when moving gear around airports and large camp. Will not bust your flying weight restrictions, but will not fit in a traditional crew type red bag.

When using the one inch thick Thermarest I can often feel the texture of the ground underneath me. When the ground underneath you is textured, you won't know it with this Thermarest. It's comfortable and warm. Also, the 25 inch width is plenty wide in my opinion.

The base camp is lighter and rolls a little smaller, but this one is superior when it comes to comfort. I would not want to backpack with it due to size, but it is great for recreational camping.
