Used extensively in medical and industrial applications, digital pressure mapping technology analyzes a range of body types in varying sleeping positions. Common areas of high and low pressure were identified and mapped, to create a more even and comfortable sleep surface. The Therm-a-Rest® Luxury Map™ Mattress has varying densities of die-cut perforations - more to soften high pressure areas and fewer in low-pressure areas, to maintain support where it's needed most.
The new Luxury Map mattress takes the self-inflating mattress concept to a higher level of luxury with advanced, pressure mapping technology and innovative die-cut foams. The result is a more even and supportive sleep surface, less tossing and turning with fewer pressure points, and the priceless experience of a more restful night outdoors.
- Softer: Die-cutting selectively decreases foam density in high-pressure areas.

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Luxury Map Regular: They did not inflate well at all for me to the advertised 3 inches... 1 and 1/2 inches at most, this is probably due to the fact that they are last years model and has been factory packaged for a long time I still hope they will inflate more as the weather warm up (a little disappointed) two regular mats and down coupler fit just perfect in the back of our Subaru Forester 41 inches width

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest Luxury Map Regular: I bought this mat for a camping trip while 4.5 months pregnant. This mat is so comfortable! I slept better on this mat than I do in my own bed. I did have to blow it up by mouth, but it only took a few breaths. It really does help with pressure points and since I can only sleep on my sides and occasionally my back, this has been throughly tested! I plan to buy my husband this mat for our yearly camping trip next year. The regular size is a bit narrow so you have to shift your body a bit when rolling over. Other than that, this mat is perfect!

The way you inflate a thermarest is to unroll it. Let it sit for a while while you are doing outher things setting camp up. Come back in a half hour and the pad will be partially inflated. Add a couple of lungs full of air to firm up the mattress.Answered on 6/29/2011 by Steve from Campmor
