Comments about Byer The Maine Military Cot:

Material is too thin and suspect it will tear soon as same material bag has already ripped from contact with legs just from packing. Only used two nights and material has stretched. I weigh 290, but shows 375 rating?

Comments about Byer The Maine Military Cot:

After going through several poorly made cots, I bought my Byers Military Style cot and I slept on the thing for a year. It was durable, comfortable, and stood up to just about every kind of stress I put it through without any problems at all, and I'm a big guy! The only issue is that the ends are tough to snap down until it wears in a little, but that's minor. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Byer The Maine Military Cot:

We use this as a spare bed, it is more comfortable than I thought a camp bed could be and very stable. Nice detail on ends keeps the canvas tight. To assemble I had to feed the cross tubulars on each end through fabric sleeve and then push down into position (needs some strength). I unpacked and assembled this bed in less than a 5 mins. I might buy another one.

Comments about Byer The Maine Military Cot:

Between military and Boy Scout activities, I have slept on lots of different cots, some good, some really bad, and lots in between. The Maine Military cot has the feel and solid construction of a really good cot. I look forward to my first opportunity to use it!

Not a con as of now, but I echo the concern of another buyer regarding the bosses on the ends of the cot over which the end braces fit to hold it all taut... they are of thick, tough plastic, but the design puts a good bit of stress on them, so I will be watching them closely... if it's gonna break, that's where it will happen.

Comments about Byer The Maine Military Cot:

Spent a week at BSA Camp Shenandoah on one of these cots. Very comfortable and would highly recommend. Only potential problem I saw is that the end rails slip over a poly/plastic disc that my inclination is is that it will wear out over time but do not know for sure. Otherwise this is a great cot.
The only reason it's not warm is that its a cot.

It all went together very well by one person. My question is, what are the holes for in the end of the square end beam? Top hole is larger than the bottom hole at both ends of each of the end beams. My guess was for mosquito netting.

The holes you refer to are for a frame to support a mosquito net.

2 Cots together would not work like a king size bed. There would be a bar running down the middle of the sleep area where to 2 cots touch.
