A Photographic, Topographic Journey along the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon & Washington. Take a journey along the Pacific Crest, through America's premier National Parks and Forests. The Pacific Crest Trail CD-ROM Oregon & Washington CDR contains mileage tables, elevation profiles, water sources, and resupply information for the Oregon & Washington section of the trail. The application allows you to print high-resolution topographic maps along the entire route of the PCT in Oregon & Washington.
This CD-ROM presentation provides a simple, organized, complete view of the entire route of the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon & Washington and surrounding lands. In this section there is a mileage table. Points of interest, trailheads, useful supply points, roads crossings, water sources, and high passes and low valleys are marked. A mouse "click" on any line in the mileage table will open the topographic maps at that point. The mileage table can be printed out on a single page with the elevation profile and Towns & Transportation information for that section. The Towns and Transportation Page has descriptions of services available in towns and along the trail. Information has been provided by businesses that have a history of serving PCT hikers. Internet links to those businesses web sites are provided when available. With an active Internet connection, "clicking" on a link will open your Internet Browser to the relevant site. You can view hundreds of photographs taken along the trail. Text descriptions and comments are included with each photo. A slide show feature automatically displays the photos in timed sequence. These photos can be scrolled right or left 360 degrees, to provide a "in the scenery" perspective. A Windows® screen saver application is included that displays these scrolling panoramic photographs. These scrolling graphics are designed to give you an idea of the ascents and descents of the trail. A copy of the elevation profiles is printed out with the mileage tables. There are three scales of U.S.G.S. Topographic maps included. Scrolling seamlessly across quadrangles is possible. Changing map scales is done with a click of a button. There is a small "locator window" you can open and use to "click" on any line and center the map at that point. A print layout window allows you to print any of the three scales of maps. There are 6 default page layouts that determine the area printed. A Mileage scale and a magnetic declination symbol is included in the printout. On the 1:24,000 & 1:100,000 scale maps, mileage markers along the PCT are included on the printouts that correspond to the lines on the mileage tables. Very easy to use just drop it in your CD tray on the computer and away you go.

Included in the CD-ROM discs are are track and waypoint files for each section of the Pacific Crest Trail. These waypoint files consist of over 1,300 waypoints along the entire PCT at trail junctions, trail heads, water, passes, and other notable locations. The Waypoints are labeled using trail mileage values. The printed maps have many of these mileage waypoints indicated on the maps.
