The Skeeter Beeter is not waterproff and can not be used by itself in wet weather. You can also order a Hammock Bliss All Purpose Ultralight Waterproof Shelter

The hammock is made of lightweight parachute nylon silk .

No this is in no way waterproof. It serves to keep bugs away only. The mesh can be drawn back to be used without it. The hammock is very stable made of High Strength Parachute Nylon Silk . It is not self supporting so no it can not be used on the ground.Answered on 1/30/2012 by Betty
