Comments about Eureka Timberline 4 Tent:

This tent has been used over a number of backpacking trips with our family of five. Five 20" wide sleeping pads fit inside with no room to spare. The optional vestibule is invaluable since this tent does not come with one.

We found that the area around the bottom of the tent door tends to leak some where the zipper is, and that is even with the optional vestibule. We also had trouble with condensation and leaking around the bottom sides of the tent where the rain fly does not reach all the way to the ground.

I am thinking of buying a new tent for a 10 day canoe trip in the Boundary waters and am worried this tent will leak too much with blowing rain. I may take it but may purchase a different tent with a rain fly that goes all the way to the ground or at least much closer.

Other than that, we have had lots of good times in this tent in the middle of big thunderstorms and stayed mostly dry.

It is very hard to find a lightweight backpacking tent to sleep five people that does all you want it to do. This comes pretty close.

Comments about Eureka Timberline 4 Tent:

After owning several tents over the years for backpacking, car camping, canoeing etc. I decided to get a 4 person Timberline it was a great decision, I usually solo canoe and being 70 + I needed the extra height and room. It is large enough
to sit up in and to store my gear in out of the weather. It is sturdy and has stood up to some pretty good wind and rainstorms.
The only problem is it it a bit heavy, but canoeing makes it a moot point as the canoe is my backpack.
It is easy and fast when set up comes.
Camping on sandbars it does get a lot of sand inside but I just turn it over before packing and shake the sand out.
I never regret buying this tent and I know it will protect me from the elements for years to come.

I used this tent many years ago while on staff at a wilderness program for troubled youth, and I always remembered it as being comfortable and efficient. Now I find it just as easy and comfortable as then. I put it up in the back yard by myself in 10 mins, and feel the quality of the construction has only gotten better over time.

I owned the 2 Person Timberline when I started in the Boy Scouts. I eventually gave it to my nephew who is still using it. I upgraded to the 4 to have more space for the little ones and myself. I also won't be backpacking far with this tent.
I was a little disappointed that the new tent did not offer better flooring. Your only option is a separate ground cover? Where the cheaper tents offer ground cover integrated into the tent. Other than the flooirng this is the perfect tent for my needs!

Comments about Eureka Timberline 4 Tent:

this tent was purchased for float trips/ truck camping/hunting in some times fairly cold situations. The tent is rock solid and for the performance it provides is actually compact and light. Not light enough for back packing but 8lbs is not bad. The very best thing compared to other tents is the solid fabric primary shell, it can be 100% zipped up for no leak of dust or water, meaning; its not just a floor with mesh netting as so many light weight tents actually are.The inner shell can be fully ventilated with zip down windows for and aft; and has a rain fly that over laps the end of the tent that alllow the vents to be open even in a downpour. It actually holds a certain amount of heat. I use a single candle lantern on cold nights, dangled from the ceiling. Zit reduces the amount of internal moisture to nothing, and would add a degree or 2 in warmth. This tent cna be set up to be cool and breezy for summer or buttoned up for cold windy big game hunting in comfort. Phenom of tents!!!!

You can pitch this tent in the dark & the pouring rain in 3 minutes flat! Ours have outlasted every other brand of tent we've ever bought. As reliable as a tent can be. Bought 2 of these as gifts for the grown kids so they will stop borrowing ours.

The vestibule area and the waterproof coating vary among these three models. The SQ will have two doors, yet the Outfitter and the Timberline classic will have only one. The TL4 will weigh less than the SQ and the SQ Outfitter as well.

Fortunately the Timberline series is the one series of tents we carry replacement parts for.

The easiest way to find them on our site is to go up to the search engine, and type in the word Timberline. This will pull up all the parts we carry for this tent.
