Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest ProLite Self Inflating Mattress:

I solo-camp on motorcycles and the smaller and lighter the kit, the better it works. For me, this tiny Therma-Rest delivers reasonable comfort and it takes up almost no space compared to its grown-up siblings. For car camping and colder conditions, I'll use my full-size Therma-Rests, but for touring in the summer on my dual-sport or sportbike, this little pad is perfect.

Comments about Therm-A-Rest Thermarest ProLite Self Inflating Mattress:

Not your 4" air mattress but what it works exactly like its intended. Boney areas of my body still felt the hard ground but I didn't feel rocks or other uncomfortable ground features. Also, I can see this keeping you dry if the floor of your tent gets wet. I only found that self inflating for the first time wasn't the best. It filled about 85% and I just had to blow into it to make it full. Putting it away was easy, fold it in half and just roll it up tight from the foot part. If you're looking for one of those air mattresses, this is not it. But if you need something small, lightweight and compact to make your backpacking adventure a little more comfortable, this is it.

Complete comfort with no slipping or sliding around! Nice and light too. An added bonus was that the color matched my new tent -as you know fashion sense is a must among the wild beasts : ) Would have liked if the stuff sack was as long as the width of the mattress.

What a difference to sleep on this pad, rather than in a sleeping bag only. Best night's sleep I've ever had while camping. This was a good investment and great addition to my camping gear. I bought the 48" to conserve space and weight. Worked fine to cushion my torso; legs don't need the padding in my opinion, and I didn't mind not having a 6' pad.

AT section hiker looking to reduce pack weight, this sleeping pad is perfect, not only for light weight but also compactibility. I have an older thermarest pad, nothing wrong with that one, still going strong. This new thermarest prolite is exactly what I need to cut my pack weight and be able to continue to enjoy backpacking.

A large would be for wider longer people. At 6' 2" you can still use a regular because a part of that 6' will be the head on a pillow. If he is wider then the extra width will be appreciated.

You would probably be more comfortable on a 47 inch mattress. The 36 inch will be a bit short.

The women's specific pad is 66" which will be sufficient for you at 5' 8". Generally you do not need to have you head on the pad. The head has a pillow under it so the woman's would be your best choice.
