A better way to float your best friend!
With 90% of the buoyancy in the water under the chest area, the new underDOG life jacket supports the natural swim angle position of a dog. The traditional cape style dog vest rides on top of the back, pulling the hind quarters up in a horizontal position in the water. Because of the way a dog is shaped, this means that the head rides close to the water line. By moving the flotation under the body, buoyancy is shifted to chest, allowing the hind quarters to sink in the water. The dog's instinctive swim motion is allowed to be more effective. And the neck is released to so that the head can ride higher above the water line in a more relaxed position. The underDOG features a split form body and durable Nylon and Cordura fabric. Generous reflective trim highlights the collar, full side and top of the vest - areas that are exposed in the water, and shows up against car headlights in the parking lot of the take out. The reinforced carry handles will support the full weight of a wet animal. The carry handle in the collar doubles as a leash attachment point. 4 adjustments points, and cool mesh ventilation across the back and adjustable mesh bridge between collar and body.
  • Chest flotation allows dog to swim at a more comfortable upright angle in the water
  • Constructed of durable nylon and Cordura fabric
  • Reflective trim throughout
  • Reinforced carry handle in the collar doubles as a leash attachment point

Comments about MTI (marine tech) MTI UnderDOG Dog PFD:

This product is on the whole very good. It seems pretty durable and the handle on the back makes it easy to pick him up out of the water. My dog is a border collie mixed with Jack Russell, so he's fairly small. He fits in this OK, but not great, it has a tendency to shift more toward his mid-section. But it makes me feel more at ease when he's in my kayak.

Leah seems to be very comfortable in her new life vest. The vest staps loosen after they get wet and will need to be re-tightened. And we have had a problem keeping the neck stap tight. But over all it is a nice vest.

Comments about MTI (marine tech) MTI UnderDOG Dog PFD:

Flotation works great and the vest is adjustable to fit my large lab (43 in chest). The fit allows him to swim naturally. Only con is the vest has a tendency to twist on his body when he swims. The fabric becomes looser as the vest gets wet. Tightening adjustments need to be made once the vest gets saturated.

Comments about MTI (marine tech) MTI UnderDOG Dog PFD:

Our Catahoula loves to go to the river with us. She also loves to swim and is a good swimmer. We bought the vest in case we wanted to use it and it turns out she wore it all day!!

VERY COMFORTABLE / PERFECT FIT - did not hinder her ability to run / jump / swim / move
ADDITIONAL COLLAR Floatation Strap - very helpful and keeps dog / companion head above water - making it a more natural swimming motion than other vest!
HANDLE ON BACK - Very sturdy - we were able to lift Belle in and out of the boats EASILY without any discomfort to her or us!

THEY HAVE GOT IT DOWN - I do not have a single complaint about this product - it is the best fitting / most comfortable C.F.D. I have seen on the market!

RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!!! WAY TO GO M.T.I. !

Depends on the dog. Initially dogs are not too keen on things wrapped around there midsection. However if you go do something fun they associate the fun with the PFD and they get use to it.

The flotation should be completely adequate. It is important to get the proper fit so the PFD does not come off during use.
