The balaclava fit my head fine, but there was excess material around the face and jaw line precluding the windstopper material. Item is on windproof if there are no gaps that wind can get into.

The oldesd did not like breating through the face piece because it built up moisture. Otherwise they sure helped keep them warm on some cold windy ski lifts.

Comments about Outdoor Research Sonic Windstopper Balaclava: I used this while I climbed up Mt.Washington in New Hampshire.There are very high and cold winds there.It fit great and was very comfortable.The only thing that I found that botherd me was when ever I exhaled a breath the moisture would freeze up on the screen where your mouth is.So it really restricted your breathing.So I just pulled the face cover down to my chin and that seemed to work just fine.The best part of it is that it DID STOP all wind off my neck and head.It retained the heat very well.The shiping was very fast as well.

I have used it for skiing, winter camping, hiking, and many other winter activities in Minnesota. It is easy to breathe through and the design allows you to cover as much of your head as necissary to protect you from the elements and keep you comfortable.

Comments about Outdoor Research Sonic Windstopper Balaclava: I use this to commute in sub freezing weather here in Minneapolis, MN. This balaclava performs much better than my old one: it covers and insulates better, while having the ability to breathe much better too. I have a big head, so the largest size is maybe 1" too small for me, but the fabric has give so I'm able to get it on just fine. Overall I am warm regardless of the weather.
