When exposure to the sun is fierce and unrelenting, the Outdoor Research Papyrus Brim Hat will take the edge off, with very light, highly breathable woven paper fabric that lets body heat escape quickly. A UPF 30 fabric lining under just the brim and crown provides protection from harsh rays without hindering airflow and breathability. Keep shaded below its wide brim when the only other shade-providers around are cacti and Joshua trees.
- Constructed of 100% woven paper straw fabric.
- 100% Supplex® nylon lining under brim and top crown panel.
- UPF 30+ sun protection.
- TransAction headband for comfort and moisture management.
- Removable chin cord with cordlock.
- Brim size: 3.25 in.
- Avg. wt. 3.4 oz.
Can this hat be reshaped if 'crushed' or packed improperly? If possible, how?

This hat will lose its shape if "crushed."

So, in the rain the hat will leak, but not dissolve, right? And the "Crushable/packable" answer is a bit confusing, too.

THis is not a crushable hat. It will lose its shape if compressed and yes, it will leak but not dissolve.

What happens to the paper hat if you get caught in the rain?
Asked on 5/11/2011 by Larry in NJ from Bedminster, NJ
The hat is unaffected by rain and would retain it's shape. However, it's not waterproof.
