Pros

  • Built-in sand pockets
  • Good height
  • Low Cost
  • Unique Design

Cons

  • Challenging set up
  • Does not last
  • POLES BREAK

Best Uses

  • Light-duty shade wo wind

Comments about ABO Gear ABO Tripod 12 ft. x 12 ft. x 12 ft. Shelter:

I use it on the beach for 2 weeks every year. The fiberglass poles will break at the metal sleeve if there is any wind at all. I take an extra set of poles to make repairs. Usually one pole breaks every 3rd day!
The fabric has held up well, though the pockets are getting threadbare.
It's easy to spot on a crowded beach! - we call it "Area 51" because it looks like a UFO landed.

failure of a good product

By dallaslane

Pros

  • Basically a good product

Cons

  • Failure of rod

Best Uses

Comments about ABO Gear ABO Tripod 12 ft. x 12 ft. x 12 ft. Shelter:

this product served us well on the beach the first day, in a light breeze. on day two, one of the rods shattered near the top of the structure. again the air was light, and this should not have happened. we duct-taped the split section and continued to use the shelter through the rest of the week, during which the wind picked up considerably. no more problems. i feel the one section that split must have had a defect. i am sorry that we are stuck with a damaged shelter. perhaps a replacement of one rod?

I bought this to use at the beach. After the third day, two of the poles broke. The wind was only 10 - 15 mph! The poles snapped and tore through the sleeves, so even if you replace the poles with better quality poles, the sleeves are still damaged.

I wanted it to work but it just doesn't

      • Too difficult to put up

Comments about ABO Gear ABO Tripod 12 ft. x 12 ft. x 12 ft. Shelter:

I really wanted the product to work but it's nearly impossible to construct. Even with three well-worn campers, we were barely able to put it up. It's like the manufacturer made the fabric too small and we could barely get the poles in the pockets. Once up, it worked, but once it was down, I couldn't put it back up. I'll be returning this item.

ABO is Good But Not Great

        Pros

        • Convenient Carrying Bag

        • Poor Stitching

        Best Uses

        • Easy Going Festivals

Comments about ABO Gear ABO Tripod 12 ft. x 12 ft. x 12 ft. Shelter:

We took this item to the Tortugas Festival in Yosemite and I am so happy we set the tent up prior to our arrival because one of one of the tri-sections that is attached to a spoke towards the ground BROKE with the tension. It was really a poor manufactured stitching job. I was able to fix and strengthen all three flies easy enough.

It rained quite a bit and surprisingly the fabric held out fine. It looked super shotty in sections, but honestly did the job. Overall this is a great tent as a starting point for height and further construction of a tarp fort. A little expensive for the material, but a justifiable purchase.
