I've read several references to washing it to soften. I can't imagine that this would not destroy it's waterproof quality.

Comments about Equinox Solo Tyvek Ground Cloth 2.5 ft. X 7 ft.:

After seeing it reviewed a number of places, I finally got one. Will mostly be used underneath (on the ground) below my hammock as a 'floor' and occassionally as a ground sheet for ground sleeping. I've heard washing it makes it a bit softer but does not take away the puncture-resistant aspect of the material, though I haven't tried it yet myself. Tough stuff--so light it's nearly inconsequential.

Very light weight ground cloth eliminates need for tarp. Best of all it fits perfectly under my solo tent, so no need for folding. I doubt it will last forever like the tent, but it's cheap enough not to matter.

Well it's really light and works as stated I have one for my tent and I spread one out on the ground in camp. My friends with heavy backpacking chairs laughed at me until I stretched out flat on my back and took a snooze next to the campfire without getting dirty. Sleeping in a Crazy Creek chair does not work and those things weight at least 16 oz!

Bought one for a one person tent while on a solo cross country bicycle tour. I used it daily for a couple of months and never had any issues. Its light weight, and much less expensive compared to manufacturer ground cloths. The one minor complaint is that it is stiff when you first use it, it does break-in after a couple of uses.

Backpacking on the AT for seven days. I liked how light it was because before I was using a clear plastic sheet which was heavier and more bulky. I noticed an insulating factor to it on the cold nights. I would like to see it in a darker green blue or brown so you do not see the mud streaks.

Half the weight of plastic. Only problem is that it is white. As I like to backpack invisibly I'm going to dye it green.
