Comments about Gatco 3 Stone Kit:

Purchased the extra fine stone and the serrated blade stone to go with this kit. The extra fine is good for regular camping and other knives but it needs a "diamond" stone for fine cutlery and razor type blades.
Also, the stones arrive very dry. They need a good soaking in oil to get them ready. the oil supplied in the kit is not enough.

I got both our daughter's boyfriends this sharpening kit last Xmas and after hearing positive comments from them and seeing the results I purchased it for use in our own household. It did a great job on our kitchen knives.

These stones make knife sharpening far less intimidating than the traditional whetstone, because they take out the guesswork on angles that are so daunting to beginning sharpeners. My only beefs really are that I wish the fine grade stone were a bit finer still (I'm using these for high caliber kitchen knives) and that I wish the bottle for the oil were easier to seal (right now you have to replace a stopper inside the screwtop to prevent spills because the bottle stores on its side). Not big drawbacks at all and I love these sharpeners!

Angle guide works great, and the product is very easy to use. The only downside is you can't get that "Hair poppin' sharp" with this product. Good for accurately reprofiling a dull blade, but not good for that final razor edge

Works great, just use enough pressure to really cut the edge. If you have some really dull items, the extra coarse stone would be good idea. Use plenty of oil to keep stones unclogged.
