Comments about Eureka! Mountain Pass 3XTE Tent:

Our Troop purchased five of the 3XTE tents. After 24 seperate camp-outs in temperatures of 80 to minus 15 in rain, wind, and snow we have had no failure in workmanship or materials. The vents perform well in all weather to keep condensation from occuring. All zippers still perform flawlessly. For backpacking trips the tent is divided among two Scouts making it about a 4 1/2 pound load. Considering what we have put this tent through the Eureka Mountain Pass 3XTE has proven to be a great value

Comments about Eureka! Mountain Pass 3XTE Tent:

Early spring Colorado 2" wet snow bent DAC aluminum poles. Fly is heavy which is nice but the DAC poles will not take the pressure. The floor in this thing is absolutely top notch, "heavy floor". Great for boys camping, durrable materials all round except for the poles. Use it for scouts what its designed for and you will enjoy for years. If you get caught in snow, get to the car before its too late. Given all this, you know if high wind 20-50 mph winds occure its logical to assume also that the poles will bend. This is not the only tent I have seen with DAC alluminum poles bending. Recently they bent on a TNF BedRock 6. The BedRock experienced 20-30mph winds. I wonder if there is something going on with the quality of the DAC poles? The actual tents have fabricks workmanship are both great. Doesn't do a bit of good to have a great tent if it wont stay up. I don't know about everyone else but I am not thrilled with tents that require constant maintenance. Won't do it, Not that gullible. These tent makers need to give there tents to me and my kids here in S Colorado for real testing.

Comments about Eureka! Mountain Pass 3XTE Tent:

First trip was 3 days over 11,000 ft in Wyoming Mtns with rain, hail, and wind. Tent worked extremely well right out of the box. Only issue is that when you unzip the vestibule fly the water running off the rain fly flows over the edge and into the vestibule. If a small diverter bump could be sewn into the zipper seam it would help prevent this problem.

Comments about Eureka! Mountain Pass 3XTE Tent:

i purchased this tent because myself and two friends were going on a camping trip to scotland and wated to upgrade my 1997 4 man tetrogon that is still in great condition but not a 3 season tent.

the mountain pass is such a trooper. in the third night in the tent on Skye camped on a grassy hill above a beach on the windward side of the island a gale came in. that tent stood up to about 12 hours of wind and driving rain. the gusts were bending the tent so much that it was hitting me in the face as i attempted to sleep. the guy lines held strong no bent poles and the only additional support i added was some bandaids wrapped around the poles connections so the fly wouldn't rub itself to death. the next morning (4 am when the sky started to get light) it was still blowing so hard one of my friends remained in the tent as we took it down since it would have likely landed in the sheep field.

this is why i only buy eureka tents.

I have now used the tent twice and been happy with it each time. There was considerable rain and I stayed dry. There's lots of room, especially if you are in one place for a couple of weeks. The vestibules are quite handy.

Technically you could say the tent has 4 doors. Two in the outer blue cover - which are just doors that can be tied back. And two on the inside which are double layer doors. One layer is a mesh fabric while the second is a solid layer door.
