There are the best pegs around. I had a variety of pegs on a Grand Canyon Rim-To-Rim and these are the only ones that survived the concrete like "dirt" in corridor camp sites. They hold well in soft dirt too.

Don't buy the 6 pack when you can get the 8 pack for about the same price. This is why I checked "not recommended.)

These stakes are the best. Last trip I had to camp in a parking lot and was able to drive one of these through a crack in the asphalt by hammering it with a rock. It went in just fine without being bent. The cord loop is great and makes tying off much easier.

Panhandle Lk. in the blast zone of Mnt. St. Helen's has a very loose upper layer of ash and pumice mixture, I used four of my six stake set to secure my poncho / tarp set-up without incident. The wind did kick-up to approx. 20 mph, and a couple rain squalls lasting about half an hour, all thing considered, these are my new go-to stakes, contrail tent or not.
