Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: After years of frustrating failures with flimsy wire stakes, I have found what I believe to be the best anchors available. These lightweight stakes stand up to hammering, glide past underground roots and rocks, and are easy to retrieve. The retrieval loops also serve as a handy way to hang these stakes to a caribiner; helping prevent loss. The red anodized finish also makes them more difficult to misplace. Get some extras along with some 550 cord, and you can supplement your tent/canopy's anchoring system for windy conditions. Highly recommended...

Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: I was hesitant when I saw the price, but since I have received them and used them I decided that it was worth the expense. I have abandoned all my other tent stakes in favor of these. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: I absolutely LOVE these stakes! We camped on a mix of sand and soil and they gripped it well, even through a thunderstorm with wind. They were really hard to remove, but we chalked that up to exactly how good they are at staying in the ground. Pros

Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: Used it on two tents that go biking and hiking with my wife and I as well as our college age kids. Great as Philmont tent pegs. Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: Sturdy, lightweight and hold fast. Loops are easy to use on guy lines and make it easy to pull stakes. Only problem I had was because I'm color blind the red dissappeared in the grass. Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: Haven't used them yet, but I can see they'll pound into hard ground a lot better than my wire aluminum pegs. Looks like I can strike them with a log or stone and they will hold up. Better than the old steel spikes I've also tried. Pros

Comments about MSR - GroundHog Stakes - 8 Pack: Truly the best stakes I've ever used. They are a bit pricy but you will never need to buy any more stakes in the future. These bad boys don't bend for anybody and they hold great even in loose sandy soil. They were the only stakes to last on a 14 day trek with a few other guys. Luckiy they had brought many spares b/c they needed them! Displaying reviews 1-8 |

Q:
What is the diameter of these stakes?1 answer
A:
The diameter of the MSR GroundHog stakes is 3/8.Q:
Are these meant to be attached at the stake points? Also, do these need to be removed every time or can you leave these attached to your tent? Thanks1 answer
A:
Tents will have stake loops at the points on the wall where it is appropriate to secure them. Stakes are generally not left attached to a tent to avoid damaging the material during storage. Stakes should be packed in a separate stuff sack.
