Not superlight, but not uncomfortably heavy either. The FlipLock length adjustment mechanism beats the pants off of the twist-type tighteners I have had on other poles, especially in cold weather. On these poles, you can easily release the flip lock mechanism (to lengthen or shorten) with winter gloves on - works something like a quick release on a bicycle wheel. I have found the "twist" mechanisms on other poles balky at best (especially in winter), and at one point required mechanical assistance from vise-grips to tighten sufficiently (and then to loosen as well). These BD Contour poles are easy to use, rugged and foolproof - real treat compared to my older ones.

I have used these poles mountain snowshoeing and plan to hike peaks with them.
It took some time and effort to figure our how to extend them initially and I almost returned. Directions were minimal and would have saved concern. Adjustment made, very satisfied with performance of these poles.
